I got a tip today that the 1s 10 pages of Aaron Sorkin’s SOCIAL NETWORK were online. The site that posted them is doing so as a tease and not to pirate or leak any spoilers and having read them, I believe their intent and as such decided to share them here.
The thing about these pages that immediately stands out is Sorkin’s dialogue, fans of the WEST WING will immediately tune into the quick, sharp banter that immediately sets up the story and the personalities involved. The other things these pages accomplish so perfectly is the ‘catalyst’ of the story and the theme, which is so perfectly aligned with the sub title:
YOU DON’T GET TO 500 MILLION FRIENDS WITHOUT MAKING A FEW ENEMIES.
There’s no doubt Sorkin was an excellent choice for penning this, I hope it inspires ticket buyers, writers and those that don’t understand just how important of a job the writer has particularly when it comes to making good movies. I also hope that the other players in this enormous undertaking held up to their responsibilities in making a good movie.
